Lionweld Kennedy : Corporate Responsibility

Butterfly giving is a charity for young people, ran by young people

 Hannah Butterfly giving

Lionweld Kennedy has chosen to support this very worth while charity which was recently formed by a local 15 year old girl Hannah Larkin to help the fight against teenage cancer throughout the UK.

Now 16 years old, Hannah says that Butterfly Giving is inspired by the Butterfly Effect:

'It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon half-way around the world.'

Many people think that cancer only effects older people, but 6 young people are diagnosed every day in the UK. Per week, that's 42, per month, 186 - per year: 2190. With this in mind, Butterfly Giving's aim is to improve the quality of life of teenagers (and family and friends) who are currently fighting cancer or those who are in remission. The charity does this in numerous and varied ways and is always looking for exciting new and fresh projects. It also contributes to research projects specifically aimed at teenage cancer - where there is usually very little current research.

Statement from Hannah

'I set the charity up after meeting an incredible young man, whom I am now very close to, who was sadly diagnosed with cancer at a very young age and had to have one of his legs amputated. Teenagers are too young to have to think about matters of life or death. I just want the charity to help in any way it can, to bring a sense of normality to the lives of teenagers living with cancer.'

'I'd like to thank Lionweld Kennedy from the bottom of my heart for supporting the charity and enabling Butterfly Giving to help more young people fighting cancer.'
